Year 10 Geography & Sustainability

13th March 2019

On the 6th March 2019 Mr J Dudley took eight Year 10 Geography students to a sustainability event, held at the Environment and Sustainability Institute, University of Exeter.  The day had a focus on micro-plastic that accumulates from our ever increasing demand for washing our synthetic clothes. The students had workshops in the high-tech laboratories where they could explore the microscopic implications of synthetic materials. They even designed a pump to try and remove micro-plastics from our systems to further protect our marine environments. The final workshop was a competition with the four other schools and the eight students had to create a ‘message of change’ based on their new knowledge. The Year 10’s created ‘Captain Sweatshop’ a super hero who was tasked with making our clothes factories more sustainable. A great day for all who attended.
