Helston Students Do It Again!

Sixth form students from Helston Community College celebrated some outstanding exam results today. This wonderful year group have excelled with a near perfect 100% pass rate. Over half of the students achieved one or more of the top grades (A/A* or equivalent) and the vast majority of students applying to university have secured their first choice place. Our year 12 Construction students also performed exceptionally well, passing the BTEC Level 2 Construction Diploma after one year of study.

Our Year 13 students are moving on to a diverse range of higher education courses, employment, further vocational training and apprenticeships. This year sees over 40 students bound for university. We are thrilled to see students progressing into a wide range of fields. For example, Mia Penberthy is going on to study Biological and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Exeter; Cavan Hill is going to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath; Amelia Lane is going to study Game Art at Falmouth University; and Charlotte Bibby will be studying Wildlife Conservation at Bath Spa University.

Exceptional Emmeline Achieves 4 A*s and a Place at Oxford

Emmeline Pollard achieved a clean sweep of A*s in her A Levels (Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Biology) and will now realise her dream of studying Physics at Oxford University. Flying the flag for women in science and maths, Emmeline has excelled throughout her time at Helston, achieving numerous awards at our recent Celebration Evening. Described as being exceptionally gifted by her physics and maths teachers, Emmeline has shown huge passion for the subjects she has studied. Well done Emmeline – keep the flag flying!
