History Visit to London

18th December 2019

Forty students in Years 9 and 10 recently had the opportunity to visit London with the History Department. The visit included a talk and tour at the Imperial War Museum, which focused on warfare during WW1 - the students particularly relished the trench experience which brought history to life. The Tower of London provided further historical insight as the students learned more about the diverse and, with names such as ‘The Bloody Tower’, sometimes rather gory history of the site. Our evening entertainment was a trip to the theatre to see the spectacular musical ‘Matilda’, complete with terrifying Ms Trunchbull! Although we had to endure the city traffic, the students were treated to the beauty of London’s Christmas lights. We passed many landmarks on our travels such as the Houses of Parliament, and we were very fortunate to have Mrs Bayes as our knowledgeable tour guide. The students’ behaviour was exemplary throughout the trip of which we are very proud.
