Post 16 Results Day Success

Year 13 students from Helston Community College celebrated receiving their A level and BTEC/OCR National results today. This particular year group have excelled, improving on the results achieved last year, with students making good progress across a wide range of subjects. Our year 12 Construction students also performed well, passing the BTEC Level 2 Construction Diploma after one year of study.

Mr Wayne Jenkins, the College’s Headteacher said, "This is a delightful year group with high aspirations and our teachers and support staff have really enjoyed working with the students over the last two years. It very rewarding to share their success with them today as they secure the results required to progress in their chosen field of study or career. We are very proud of our students’ achievements and wish them the best of luck for the future."

Our Year 13 students are moving on to a diverse range of higher education courses, employment, further vocational training and apprenticeships. This year sees over 60 students bound for university, with approximately 25% destined for prestigious Russell Group universities. We are thrilled to see students progressing into a wide range of fields. For example, Kian Hocking achieved three A* grades and a Distinction* and will be studying Engineering at Oxford, and Tea Clark achieved three A* grades and will be studying Engineering at Warwick. Ben Holden (AAAB) will be starting his studies in Experimental Psychology at Oxford. Nick Frantz (A*AA) is looking forward to studying modern languages and music at Birmingham, and Hannah Goldsmith (A*A*A) will be moving on to study History at Nottingham. Phoebe Lingwood (A*AA) will be starting her History of Art course at the prestigious Courtauld Institute of Art (University of London) after the summer and we are very pleased that Aaron Stevens (AAA) will be studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bristol, and Lowenna Riley (A*AAB) will be starting her BMBS course in Medicine this September.

The College is also delighted with the results from our talented sport students, with Connie Lockwood (triple Distinction*) and Ellie Phesse (double Distinction* and two A grades at A level) both securing grades to enable them to study at Loughborough university. We were also thrilled to see Max Winterton securing a place on the AAT accountancy apprenticeship programme at Francis Clark in Truro.
