Year 11 students handout Christmas hampers

14th December 2017

This week saw the wrapping, packing and delivery of Christmas Hampers with Year 11 prefects. The National Citizenship Service offered students the chance to write a proposal for a social action project and the prefects themselves chose the Christmas Hamper delivery idea. The proposal was accepted and we were awarded some funds to help purchase the necessary items.

The delivery itself was brilliant! Students were nervous but communicated very well with the local elderly residents, many of which had dementia. They were inspired by their words and many have said that they will return to visit them to spread a bit more joy in the future.

The students arranged not only the hamper gifts but decided that they wanted to play music on their piano which the residents loved and then they even grouped together to create a beautiful choir singing a variety of Christmas songs which the residents joined in with.
